Occupational Health and Safety Diploma (OHSDIP) – aligned with NTA Unit Standards – Vocational Diploma Occupational Health & Safety – Level 5
Duration: 2 years
This course is designed for individuals who want to further a career in Occupational Health and Safety. Individuals awarded with this qualification will be equipped with the necessary practical skills and theoretical knowledge to perform duties related to the majority of Occupational Health and Safety fields in the mining – and most other industries. Persons interested in establishing a professional safety career will benefit greatly from this course.
Learning methods will comprise of both face to face and practical on/off site training.
Year 1:
Full time Training
- 6 months – Face to Face Training
- 6 months – Field Attachment / Internship
Part Time Training
- 9 months – After hours Face to Face Training
- 3 months – Field Attachment / Internship
Year 2:
Full time Training
- 6 months – Face to Face Training
- 6 months – Field Attachment / Internship
Part Time Training
- 9 months – After hours Face to Face Training
- 3 months – Field Attachment / Internship
Evening classes for full time employees will be considered. Minimum persons eight (8).
Admission Requirements
- 16 years and older,
- Grade 11/12 (old curriculum), minimum 18 points in 6 (six) subjects / Grade 10, 20 Points in six subjects
- Mature Age Entry:
- 25 Years and older
- Minimum of two (2) years working experience
- Grade 10

- 16 years and older,
- JumpStart to Workplace Safety Certificate (see short courses)
